MAKAR Wins Building Performance Pioneer at the Offsite Awards 2026!

We are thrilled to share that MAKAR has won the Building Performance Pioneer award at the 2026 Offsite Awards — one of the most prestigious industry awards in the UK, recognising outstanding achievement in offsite and modern methods of construction.

This award recognises projects that have used offsite technology to make a tangible difference in lowering the overall environmental impact of a building, and that have embedded circular economy principles from the outset. We are proud that the Offsite Awards judges have recognised the Paradigm Prototype Affordable Home as this year's best example of building performance.

The Paradigm home was assembled to wind and watertight stage in just one week, using precision-manufactured natural Structural Insulated Panels (n-SIPs) made from locally sourced Scottish timber and natural materials. The home achieves a predicted energy bill of just £6.05 per week, and an airtightness rating of 0.29 m³.h⁻¹.m⁻² @50Pa — well below the Passivhaus standard, and more than twelve times more airtight than local authority benchmarks. Independent research from the University of East Anglia confirms that each home sequesters 39 tonnes of biogenic carbon at point of delivery, delivering a one-off upfront carbon saving equivalent to around 30 cars' annual emissions.

We are also proud to have been shortlisted as finalists in the Best Use of Timber Technology category at the same awards — recognition of the breadth of MAKAR's approach, from material sourcing to factory manufacture and rapid on-site assembly.
