A three-bedroom stepped house near Gorthleck. Completed in 2016 for a musical couple who were re-locating from the Isle of Skye.
The house is stepped down the sloping site among birch woods and chanterelles. Entry is via a decked bridge leading to the middle floor, which houses the services, kitchen and utility. On the lower floor we find sleeping accomodation and a study, which opens out onto the garden. The living and dining room, large enough for a small group of musicians to assemble, is located on the upper floor, with access to a decked covered balcony.
The house is heated using solar thermal panels and an air source heat pump, which feed a central heating system and domestic hot water. A wood burning stove adds extra space heating to the upstairs living space.
